Love of a grand bungalow inspired this addition which wraps around the original with a gentle embrace.

Newly remarried David and Sandie fell for this classic house on Cottesloe’s Broome Street. However it suffered from a careless previous addition. They wanted to remake it as a home for their new life together, whilst retaining the wonder of the original building.

We developed a design which opened up a large volume at the rear keeping a relationship with existing roof. Providing generous living areas amongst a beguiling interplay of spaces; including a new upstairs Master Suite and Alfresco. Materials wrap over multiple surfaces giving cohesion and warmth to a complex arrangement. Beams of winter sun play across surfaces. While the past is remembered in rhythmic framing and articulated details.
