PROJECT TYPE: NEW RESIDENCE
Leah approached steelehouse architecture with a wonderful brief for her new home. The house was to revere an old olive tree that had been planted by her Nonna many decades before.
We wrapped the layout around, so all the adjacent rooms could look out onto the olive, focusing the house on this wonderful natural feature.
We also wanted to preserve the view to an adjacent arts & crafts bungalow home, which Leah had grown up in. Her new house has a slice taken from it to preserve views of this delightful facade for passers by.
These design moves provided a dynamic and interesting shape for the house plan; however, they presented some challenges fitting in all the requirements for Leah and her 2 doggie’s, Tiramasu and Piccolino.
The Fremantle council appreciated our respect towards the existing tree and building fabric. Giving us some leniency in street setback requirements.
